| BONNIE,
IS A GREAT ANIMAL
LOVER AND ADVOCATE. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT SOME LUCKY PONY WOULD HAVE A LOVING FOREVER
HOME IN JERSEY.
CJ
Finally
after year of owning horses (none suitable for kids lessons) my 7 yr old
daughter is interested in riding !
After watching a
friends granddaughter show at the fair my daughter decided horses are fun.
She rode by herself
for the 1st time yesterday (needs to wear her helmet & lessons to lay off her
mouth) but she got the confidence to ride bareback & on her own.
Lollipop (her mount) who is missing one eye is a wise old gal
who only plow reins ALSO has a "mean buck" if you ask her to do more than a walk
so we will be looking for something else for her to take lessons on. Keep us
in mind if you come across a cheap kid safe large pony. Can offer a life time
private home to the right pony !

Therapeutic program looking for gelding

Hi All,
We are still searching for a horse for our program. We need something
that can WTC, is about 15.2 or 3, sound mind. Geldings are best but I
would never pass up a good mare. It is ok if they need some finishing
work, but can not be spooky.
Please contact me at kathleen@angelsdancingwithhorses.org
(Kathleen @ angelsdancingwithhorses.org)
or 207-626-7646
I have looked at what you have and there is one mare that might work,
but i have had no response so maybe she would not be suitable.

The
School that my sister will be taking her daughter to equine therapy classes is looking for
a horse for their program.
They are located near
Russellville, Arkansas and I asked her a few
questions to try to find out more about the program. Here is what they are looking
for:
1) The place is
called the Equestrian Zone.
2) I am not sure who the owner is but the contact I have, one of Lyndsay's therapists,
would be Karen Duvall 479-970-6536.
She will be able to get them to the right person. She had mentioned it the other day when
we were trying to schedule therapy around my college class schedule.
3) I am pretty sure it is within the city limits of Russellville but that would need to be
verified. It is in Pope County though.
4) Yes- it is a non-profit organization.
5) I am not sure of this but if they don't want to keep it after it can no longer do
therapy then I am sure that they would be willing to donate it back.
6) I don't believe that there is an age preference.
7) Mare or gelding would probably be fine but that is another one that would need to be
verified.
8) They prefer a TWH.
9) They do have a couple of horses already that are blind or partially blind. Minor
injuries are fine but no major injuries that would create a financial hardship for care
due to it being volunteer.
These are the
questions she replied to:
Name of the therapy
place?
Owner?
Location? I figured it was probably Russellville or somewhere close by.
Do you know if they are not for profit (a lot of people are more willing to donate if they
are...plus if the horse has to be transported then they can also make that a tax deduction
too.)
Will it be a lifetime home, or would they be willing to redonate it to a rescue when it is
no longer able to be a therapy horse anymore?
Do they have an age preference?
Sex? (I am guessing they would prefer mare or gelding)
Does it have to be a TWH or can it be another gaited breed of horse? (Paso Finos ride a
lot like TWH, but are usually a bit shorter...there are also gaited appaloosas, etc)
What kind of medical conditions are okay? (Some places don't mind blind or partially blind
horses, some do...old healed injuries (like my gelding has an old tendon injury that only
flares up if he is ridden hard (but he is spoiled so that never happens!))...
Original request:
If you know anyone
that has a Tennessee Walker they would like to donate (even with minor medical problems),
let me know. These horse tend to have a gait that works well with therapy. I thought if
anyone might know of someone who can't take care of one anymore, it would be you.

Hi Everyone,
About a year ago I was on this board, and i was blessed with two great
horses.
A belgian cross and a TB.. Recently my TB has passed away..:(
My belgian was sooo in love with my TB that not having some sort of
friend is driving him nuts all day.
I am looking for a companion horse for him,(doesnt have to be a
horse/can be a pony) and something that once and a while the hubby can
hop on, and go on trails around my property, and of course
loved/spoiled by the two of us.
Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Hi Beth,
Could you ask around if anyone has a 13 hand or under pony that must be safe
for mentally challenged children to be lead around on. I could pay some
money or trade for a beautiful 14.3 hand child safe pony, which is too big
for these small children. I have a function on the 28th so I need to find a
pony before then. Pony would be well taken care of and I have excellent
references. Forever home too!
Thank you,

My mom was planning on buying a
miniature horse that was being kept where we board our horses. We informed the person who
owned the place that we wanted the mini, but I'm not sure he thought we were serious and
took him to the auction instead. He would have been sold just yesterday. We really miss
him and would like to have the chance to learn about where he's being kept so we could
possibly buy him or just make sure he has a good home if the owner is unwilling to part
with him.
He's a fairly young stud, a palomino
to roanish color and no more than perhaps a year old. He was originally called Sunny, but
has lately answered to PeeWee.
Please respond to this ad if you

Hi, Wanda! Congrats on the great work your doing
and thank you for
your interest.
Unfortunately, we re both too far from you and
also don't specialize
in minis, so there's little we could do to help.
HOWEVER, that said, we're quite connected internet
wise with rescues
throughout the country. if you would like, i can
post your emails to a
variety of groups and ask rescues to contact you
directly if they
could use your assistance.
We focus almost entirely on full size riding
horses that need rehab,
health issues resolved, retraining, and then move
them on to new homes

Saw
this on another board-anyone?
"I am looking for a pony for our family. My ideal pony would be
generally physically sound and an older "babysitter" type, able to
lead with a child aboard and be ridden by my daughter when she's old
enough and experienced enough to ride by herself. This pony must be
able to hold its own with other, larger horses (we have 2) and not be
afraid of or excessively aggressive towards dogs. We're not
necessarily planning to compete with this pony, but will likely do
short to medium length, easy trail rides eventually. If you're looking
for a retirement home for your barn's lesson pony, our family might be
a great solution. Our other 2 horses are "upgrades," so I wouldn't be
opposed to upgrading/rescuing a pony either. I'm not interested in an
auction pony necessarily, unless I know its general history (for
temperament purposes).
This pony would have a forever home with us. Our horses live on our
property and have access to 24-7 turnout in a beautiful paddock and
pasture, although we also have a barn with stalls. We have no climb
fence and electric rope/tape - no barbed wire! Our horses are well
cared for and get regular vet/dentist/farrier care as needed.
References available.
If you have such a pony or know of one needing an upgrade/rescue,
please email me at k9riot@yahoo.com (k9riot @ yahoo.com)
. I am willing to travel within
Connecticut and to neighboring New England states to
see/purchase/adopt the right pony. I'm in no hurry, and I will update
this thread if/when I find the right pony."

Mass: horse wanted for
accomplished adult rider, price range 'open to discussion'
This
family was interested in a horse in our care. He's not what they need, and I don't have
anything that is. So, I got her permission to share this information with these lists, to
see if someone has a horse that's a good fit for what she needs. She WANTS to work with a
rescue as her first choice, before doing an online purchase from an individual with her
last choice being a typical 'trader'. here
are her answers to my questions. Please contact her directly. I have no further info whatsoever except to say my
18yo 17hh thoroughbred gelding HATES trails so he wasn't a fit for her needs.
=========
We are
in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, south
of Worcester,
(Central
Mass.)
We are
bringing my other horse home as soon as we get our Amish barn (in about six weeks we
hope!); we are currently boarding.
The
barn has stall openings to their paddock. They will decide when to go in or out, the only
exception being I would close them in at night.
I am
comfortable with the new horse coming from another area, we'll work out transport. I'd just want a vet health check, history if
possible.
Breeds!
I'm not fussy about a specific breed at all. I have had crosses, Welsh/Hackney;
Arab/Standardbred. The Welsh cross was the
most dependable:)
My
present horse is a Morgan - Spirited but smarter than anything and a joy.
I love
Gypsy Vanners and Irish warm bloods. Also
draft cross if they're not too huge. Of course, Friesians are wonderful. I tend to think
Thoroughbreds too headstrong. They should
have reasonably calm personalities overall. I
like some spirit but nothing hard-mouthed or pushy. A basically sweet
personality.
The
horse will be doing little to no showing. (I might try some localeventing, but I can do
that with my present horse.)
Spook-proof
would be great.
The
trail riding is basically flat ground, a little rocky and through forests, no mountain
climbing - there might be a few very low jumps. Sure footed preferable, but heroic not
needed.
They
should be 15 hands plus, preferably around 16, no more than 17 for me! Basically any horse
that could carry a 6'2", 220 lb. man would be good - that's my son. Mostly it will be me riding but in the summer it
may be him or his brother, both about the same size.
I used
to be a great rider; I am being re-taught. My
sons have not ridden much in recent years so a novice to intermediate level horse is good. We definitely should not have anything hot.
Budget
is limited. Safest to say, 'open to
discussion.'
Age is
not crucial. Reasonably mature, no yearlings
or over 20's, gelding preferred but will consider mare.
No
major health issues. We will really want to
enjoy moving around together. Mild arthritis not a problem; they won't be asked to ride
all day.
But
please - no major joint, leg, stomach, hoof or blindness issues. We prefer easy shoeing to
no shoeing. (My present horse is bare foot.)
Ideal
horse: a real partner. I saw a black horse at a show out west. She and her rider carried the flag around at a
canter before the show and then stood still while someone sang "I'm proud to be an
American." Then
They cantered out again - real partnership. It's not important that the horse be black or like
carrying flags; I want that type of partnership. At a Tellington touch seminar last
summer, the Gypsy Vanner and Irish Cross
Were such calm and wonderful personalities. They
really partnered with us.
Soft eyes, looking for our company, gentle in the
paddock with our mare, kind to our small grand daughter holding out a carrot, tolerant of
a whole family gathering round to pet and groom them. Happy on trails, not spooked by
those birds or an occasional deer. Up for an
adventure or a day hanging out together.
Thank
you!
Laurie

Hi, I just found
your site through a yahoo draft horse rescue group.
My husband and I
have 10 acres, goats, 6 dogs and 5 cats. We do have 2 children- but what the heck- they
are grown and we are pretty much empty nesters. One still lives here but we dont see
him much. LOL!
We also have a
wonderful horse named Dove who brings us much pleasure with her nuzzles and kisses. I was
raised riding and showing, but for 25 yrs. have moved around and never had time or a place
for a horse.
So now approaching
50 we have a little farm and I wish to have have my dream of an English Shire to ride and
my hubby says he will be happy with a big ole draft of any type to love, brush and take
care of. We are able to take 2 horses. We do have a trailor and could travel to states
around us or arrange transport from farther away. So could you please post that we are
looking for a Shire and another draft.
Also, I noticed a
post from a Equis rescue in middle TN and you said you didnt know anything about
them. Tressa is a legitimate rescue. I do not personally know her, but I live nearby and
she was recommended to me by some friends. She does not usually rescue any drafts, but I
know she does rescue and was actually putting out a call for horses on the goat group we
belong to on Yahoo a few months back
Thanks so much,

Subject: [netposse] Looking for a welsh pony or small horse in Oklahoma
I know this is a
sight for stolen horses, but I was wondering if there
was a welsh pony or child sized horse out there that nobody wanted
anymore and was willing to give to an 8 year old little girl? I know
people tend to out grow their ponys, and I just didnt want one to end
up in a place that it shouldnt. We will be moving to 2.5 acres mothers
day weekend. So if you or you know of anyone that has a pony or small
child sized horse that they want to give to a little girl please
contact me. Thanks a million! We are in
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and will
be moving to Sapulpa , Oklahoma.

I
am still looking for a sane, reasonably sound, not too old, trail
safe horse (around $500) for my advanced-beginner daughter. Have not
found what we are looking for yet... Has to be chosen by the child, of
course, or we would be done shopping by now...LOL

Horses for Church Camp

I wanted to post this here and am also posting it locally. Moses
Merrill Camp and Conference Center in Linwood,
NE (where I happen to
work) is looking for well broke horses to keep year round. They want
7 horses in the program and we have possibly one already depending on
how she is under saddle on Sunday. In past years, they have rented
horses from a local guy, however he sold his horses sometime between
last September and this March. After discussing the issue, the camp
has decided to keep their own horses so that this does not become an
issue in the future and wants to do this with RESCUE horses. (This
is what comes of having the director of a rescue working there.) =)
Their plan is to have the horses available for the kids camps over
the summer and possibly for other events as well, but that is still
on the burner. Sometime during the camp, the kids would write to the
rescue where the horses came from telling the rescue what they
appreciated about the horse. This camp is part of the American
Baptist Churches of Nebraska. (I'm working on getting a wiki page set
up for them.)
So this said, I am currently scouting for rescue horses that are
sound and would be good around kids. I am also looking for tack
(preferrably western) for the 7 horses. Any help with this would be
greatly appreciated.
I can be reached at cpersing@heartlandhorserescue.com (cpersing @ heartlandhorserescue.com)
Thanks,

| Name: Taylor Location: Nebraska
Wanted: A reasonably priced beginner's horse. Needs to be good for a rider
with confidence issues. Larger than a pony (she has a mini now that she is just too
big for). Any color, any breed, and either mare or gelding. Would like to use
the horse for 4H, trail riding with her family and friends, and just to love on.
Experience: Owns her mini now, has help from her parents who are
experienced.
Note from Brandi: I have met this family and Taylor is an exceptional young
lady. She was with us at the auction where we purchased Cheyenne, Annie, and Sarah
Beth. She was the one who alerted us to Cheyenne's condition and asked us to help
her. Her mini is in excellent health and she adores her. This will be a very
loving and forever home.

Subject: Looking for Ponies
Hi Beth,
I'm searching for either 2 small draft crosses or larger ponies for my
summer program in Bartlett. I don't want too much....right! Only that the
animals be gentle, ridable, safe to teach kids how to groom, lead, etc....I
can foster or adopt....if possible. Any idea where I can find such
creatures?
Thanks,
Laura Slitt

We
are looking for a horse for my son to use for 4H and at Hartford
fair. He is looking into Western Pleasure. We cannot afford to board a
horse as we are already boarding 2 horses, our second horse is too
young for my son to ride until next year. We are however willing
workers. We would be able to come out 3-4 times a week to work with the
horse, and we would like to haul it to our 4H meetings, Hartford fair
and possibly to a couple of point shows. We are also needing this to be
in Newark/Heath/Granville area. Thanks for considering us.
