Animal Fair. This weekend event is being held at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds,
Fryeburg ME on July 26/27,

please attend our event and bring your adoptable animals with you. Stall
space is available (FREE!) for any of your adoptables! You will be

can supply the space!
If you are a supplier of horse items or services, please consider having a
booth at the fair.
If you are a horse lover, owner, enthusiast or admirer, please plan to
attend! We are looking for folks who would be interested in doing short
demonstrations/shows also, such as dressage, barrel racing
.whatever you
enjoy, and want to share with the public! Talk more people into joining your
sport or hobby! Share your passion!
If you are a member of a horse club that posts a calendar of events, please
consider adding this event to it.

On October 19, 2008, there will be
a national rescue ride throughout the United States to help fund horse rescues.
Right now there are four pages of rescues participating and riders and walkers may
participate and register. The cost to register is $20. Each rider will need to
get pledges from friends and family. Of course, there is no limit. If you live
near one rescue and want to pledge money to another rescue in a different area that is
permitted. For example, if you live in Virginia and want to pledge your money to
H.O.R.S.E. Rescue you may do so. You can visit the registration site at http://www.nationalrescueride.org
to what it is all about. Our ride will be in Letchworth State Park at the height of the fall
foliage season. The ride will be on the east side of the park so we don't have to
contend with tourists and traffic. The ride will be ten miles long. It will be
on a dirt road surrounded by tall trees and lots of wildlife. We will start at 9:00 AM with a
continental breakfast and registration at the pavilion and parade grounds. The
covered pavilion has a wood burning fireplace to keep everyone toasty. After the
ride, guests will be treated to hot dogs and hamburgers. Everyone that registers
through the official site will receive a free tee shirt. We recommend that everyone
bring cameras as the fall foliage will be stupendous. At the midpoint of the ride
there is an overlook where you can see down into the gorge and the river below.
There will be water available for your horses at the midpoint. There is
plenty of parking for trucks and trailers on the parade grounds. Anyone wishing to
spend Saturday night in the park can do so on a limited basis. There are some rustic
one room cabins available equipped with a stove and refrigerator and four single beds.
You must bring your own linens, cookware and food. There are central
restrooms but none in the cabins. There are no stalls for horses available.
The advantage of spending Saturday in the park is that you have time to visit the
west side of the park and can see all the tourist areas with waterfalls. The park is
14,600 acres so there is a lot to see. Motels are available in the area if you want
something a little more luxurious like a hot bath or shower. We also plan on having
some silent auctions on some neat stuff. End time is 5:00 PM so
you can spend the whole day. There is another trail that is only one horse wide
and you can ride all the way to Nunda if you want. This will be a fun day for
everyone so make your reservations early on the National Rescue Ride site at http://www.nationalrescueride.org

Riding Club in Sidney, Maine. This show will have classes open to all horses but will also
have jackpot payout classes limited to horses that have been adopted from an approved

Rescue Show
Hi all. I wanted to clear up what may be a bit of confusion regarding the Maine.Horse
Rescue Alumni Benefit Horse Show. This is an OPEN SHOW!!! That means anyone who wants to
participate can enter, just like with most shows. There will be 8 classes, (including
in-hand, performance and games classes) just for horses that have been adopted from a
shelter or rescue but most of the show is open. We want to show that rescued horses can
perform shoulder-to-shoulder with "regular" horses so it only makes sense that
it should be inclusive!
I also wanted to let interested parties know that we will have our class list,
registration forms, and all the other paperwork ready to email/mail by August 1st. I will
announce again once those packets are ready.
We are still looking for class and/or show sponsors. If any of you are interested in
sponsoring a class, individuals can sponsor for $15.00 a class, businesses can sponsor for
$20.00 a class. We are also putting together a program for this event and are accepting
advertising from businesses as well. Please contact me (Jen Winchester) at 223-5928 or
Linda Walker at Open Gates at 926-5570 for more info on advertising and sponsorships.
As a thank you to the Silver Spur Riding Club for letting us hold the show there, we are
giving all SSRC members a discount on registration! Details will be available within the
next few days so stay tuned!!!
Thanks to all of you who have indicated support and interest in this show. We're really
hoping for a big attendance at this event!
Not sure WHEN...

| October: Bluebonnet Horse Expo

The
Bluebonnet Horse Expo is Coming!
Mark your calendars and plan to join us in Austin, Texas on October
11, 2008 for the Bluebonnet Horse Expo. We had a great Expo last
year, but this year promises to be even better. The Expo will include
riding and training clinics and demonstrations, health and horse care
discussions, plenty of opportunities to shop, a Parade of Breeds and
Hall of Breeds, and plenty of horses, donkeys and mules from
Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society who are eager to meet you and find
adopters. Join people from across Texas and other states for a day
of fun, learning and friendship. We are looking forward to seeing you
there!
If you would like to get involved with the Bluebonnet Horse Expo,
there are plenty of opportunities:
- Become a Bluebonnet Horse Expo sponsor. Sponsorships start at $25
and are a great way to get involved. Sponsors get varying benefits
including advertising, free admission and vendor space (depending on
the sponsorship level). More importantly, the sponsors enable us to
put on the Expo.
- Become a Vendor. The Bluebonnet Horse Expo will include a great
vendors' hall with plenty of shopping. If you sell horse items, home
decor, jewelry or other horse, western or ranch-themed items, come to
the Expo.
- Show off your horses in the Parade of Breeds. The Parade of Breeds
is looking for rare breeds as well as performance horses from more
common breeds. We want you to show off what your horses can do while
educating the public and winning new fans. All Parade of Breeds
entries will be invited to show off their horses in the Hall of Breeds
and put out info about their breed, farm, horses for sale and services
they offer.
- Donate for the live or silent auction or sale area. We're looking
for new and used tack, farm/ranch equipment or
horse/farm/ranch/western-themed home decor, clothing, jewelry, etc.
Donations are tax-deductible.
Help us make the 2008 Bluebonnet Horse Expo the best one yet.
Proceeds from the Expo will help the horses of Bluebonnet Equine
Humane Society - so come, have fun and help a needy horse (or several
needy horses)!
